Measuring currents lower than 20mA with a conventional multimeter, results in inaccurate readings due to loading from the meter. Standard measurement devices insert a resistance into the circuit, and report the current as the voltage across the resistance divided by the value of the resistance. In most circuits where a small current measurement is to be taken, the insertion of this resistance by the ammeter can cause significant errors.

The Zero Resistance Ammeter counters the effect of the inserted resistance by applying a voltage across the resistor from within the instrument that is exactly equal to the voltage drop across the resistor. This applied voltage is divided by the resistance and reported as the current in the circuit. As there is no burden on the measured circuit, the reported current is exactly correct.

The Zero Resistance Ammeter is available in a number of configurations ranging from a battery powered field instrument to an AC powered lab instrument or an OEM board which can be used in remote monitoring applications.

The Zero Resistance Ammeter has two ranges (0 to 2 milliamp and 0 to 20 milliamp) both of which are equipped with over range and polarity indication.

Accuracy of the Zero Resistance Ammeter is 0.2% over the entire range.
Front panel access to batteries, On-Off switch, range selection, and indicators for polarity, over-range and input / output jacks.
